SCREEN PRINTING

PROS: Screen Printing is best for your budget if you want to print a lot of items with just 1 or 2 colors.  If you are printing 1 color on 500 shirts, Screen Printing is going to be the most affordable option. Screen Printing allows for commercially mixed PMS color matches and specialty inks like glitter, metallics, glow and puff.

CONS: Due to the high setup cost of creating screens for each print color, the advantages of screen printing diminish when you increase the number of ink colors or are trying to print just one or a handful of shirts. The cost advantage of speed also decrease as each additional ink color increases the time it takes to print a shirt significantly..

02

FULL COLOR DTF

PROS: Direct to Film Printing is most cost effective when printing under 25 pieces or printing artwork with a lot of colors or photo images.

Commercial Direct To Film Printing is a relatively new technology that cuts down on set up time, reduces chemical use, and prints multicolored artwork faster, cheaper and with more precision than traditional screen printing. The added benefit is that DTF uses ink that maintains the  same vibrance and feel of a screen printed shirt compared to the washed out color of Direct To Garment and Sublimated prints or the plasticlike look that can come with large coverage of cut vinyl prints.

CONS: DTF printing doesn't have the pricing  advantages that you get when you screen print in large quantities. The cost to produce per piece is the same at 50 or 500 . If you already have screen printed shirts and you are trying to match color exactly, that could take extra time and expense to dial in the color to match your existing shirts.

DECORATIVE VINYL

PROS: Cut vinyl was the goto for small quantity full color garment printing and could look sharp with the right artwork. If someone you know has a cricket cutter at home, commercial cut vinyl is its big brother. Cut vinyl has traditionally been used for individual names and numbers on shirts and jerseys. Cut vinyl is still tops for glitter and metallic lettering, neon colors, reflective lettering, car decals, wall decals, glass decals, car magnets, stickers, and signage

CONS: Cut vinyl is time consuming to weed and place onto application carriers. Large coverage areas can look stiff and plasticlike. Small, detailed lettering can shift on the carrier and cause a misprint.

EMBROIDERY & PATCHES

PROS: Nothing matches the level up in class of embroidery. Dress up your polos, hats, jackets, blankets and uniforms with a stitched logo or name. Screen Printing increases in price per color. Embroidery increases in price by stitch count. So the size and density of your logo have a big impact on price,. You can use 1 to 6 colors of thread for about the same price on most orders. Heat applied patches, stitch apliques, woven stickons, and custom woven labels also fall into this category .

CONS: Embroidery is time consuming. There is usually a two week minimum for embroidery with that time increasing the closer we get to Christmas. Embroidery does not do well with tiny lettering. Logos often need to be adjusted for embroidery.

DIRECT TO GARMENT

PROS: Sampan was an early adopter of Direct To Garment Printing more than 10 years ago. Direct To Film Printing is largely taking its place with better color quality and quicker production. Choose DTG if you want the soft to touch feel of water based ink that embeds into the fabric more than screen print ink.

CONS: Direct To Garment ink does not adhere properly to all fabrics without special pretreatment so that limits garment choice. Color and texture do not match screen printing or DTF. Print process is slow, loading and printing one shirt at a time.

06

SUBLIMATION

PROS: Sublimation is best for allover prints embedded in polyester like a cyclist suit, wrestling singlet, all-over print jerseys and shorts, flags, socks and tent tops.

CONS: Sublimation can be pricy and without the proper equipment, print can look faded. Limited to white garments or items and color is died on.

Sampan Screen Printing prints all of our t-shirts and other garments at our 15,000 square foot facility in Southern Indiana, helping us make sure that we can deliver your custom decorated garments quickly and affordably.

We do not have minimum orders, but traditional screen printing does have an initial set up cost for screens that makes it more cost effective when you order 25 or more pieces.

For multi-color, low quantity t shirt orders, we also offer full-color process direct to film printing. It’s a process that uses traditional water based screen printing inks, but bypasses the stencil screen process, delivering perfectly registered, full-color prints that look and feel like a traditional screen print. DTF Printing  allows you to order just one shirt or hundres with a multi-color design or even a photograph at an affordable rate.

Gildan Tees in 50/50 Dri-Blend are the house brand. We also carry Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, and Anvil at similar pricing. Premium brands include Champion, American Apparel, A4, Next Level, Bella + Canvas, Adidas, etc. Concert style shirts in crew neck and v-neck shirts are very popular in the Gildan Softstyle brand for just $1 more than regular t-shirts.

Ask about our women’s form-fitting T-shirts by Bella or our long-sleeve T-shirts.

Check out our garment catalog for full range of our clothing options along with color swatches for tees.

SCREEN PRINT & FULL COLOR PRICING

NO MINIMUMS OR SETUP FEES FOR FULL COLOR DTF PRINTING

Gildan is our standard in-stock house brand for basic t-shirts, but we print on hundreds of brands and get deliveries daily from the top t-shirt makers in the world. If you want to level up for comfort look for triblend materials from Next Level or Bella + Canvas. Working in the heat or in competitive sports, look for "performance" or "wicking" dry-fit materials in brands like A4, Augusta, Sport Tek, or Team365.
